January is drawing to a close...

I have been enjoying the semi down time I have had to bask in the cuteness of my little man.

Jude is such a happy, sweet little boy.

He has captured every heart in our home.

I look forward to seeing his precious face, full of smiles and joy, each morning.

Jude's conception and birth has brought about so many changes.

The way our home runs.

The breaks Mama takes to nourish his little body.

The craziness that has multiplied with a distracted Mama!

This year is new...fresh...and full of promise.

We are learning to juggle another child added to our fold.

With that, each member of the household has new responsibilities to conquer.

Mom and Dad included!

Schedules are changing, chore reassigned, school work changed a bit.

Constant tweaking has ensued.

We are ironing out the wrinkles.

A wave of Peace rolls over our home more and more often.

Even with the changes and new responsibilities, giggles and laughter abound.

Daily I am encouraged to see just how wonderful adding

to our family again has been.

My children are so thankful for another baby to enjoy.

While this new year is in no way quieter or slower...

it is better.

We will be better because of it and what all the change has meant.

Thank you Jesus for knowing we needed Jude Aaron in our family!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We have so much to be thankful for this year...healthy, happy children. Another year of homeschooling underway and going well. Family that we love. A warm and sturdy home. Another year of getting to be together.

But most of all...we welcomed our sixth child to our family November 5th.

Jude Aaron Cangelosi joined us at 6:52pm, weighing in at 8lbs. 10ozs., and 21 1/4 inches long. I had contractions on and off through out the day, but nothing ever constant or encouraging that Jude was coming that day.It turned out that he was our quickest labor, just 39 minutes from placing the call to the midwife. So from the time of intense contractions starting, it was around 45 minutes. It has also been my fastest recovery! Praise the Lord! Jesse and Emily were there, and were my labor support. The midwife arrived in time to catch his shoulders! Emily was such a great help to Jesse. And I continue to be amazed at the wonderful and capable husband the Lord gave me. He is amazing! Jude is such a wonderful baby. He is sweet and such a great sleeper. He is so mellow and laid back. Just what we needed!

Thank you for your love and prayers. We are so grateful. We pray that you all have a blessed and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Take joy and pleasure in you family today and remember, you have so much to give thanks for!

Today is the 4th of November. I had really hoped to have this little sweetkins by now. I am only 38 weeks and a few days, but had so hoped for an October baby...He is healthy and strong though and that is such a wonderful blessing. We have all the baby things washed and ready. His closet is stocked, his blankets folded and waiting. My arms are aching to cuddle him.I long to nuzzle his downy little head. His brothers and sisters talk to him and encourage him to come and join them. I hesitate to rush him though...he is so easy to care for right now. He has no name yet...we know God has one picked and eagerly await to discover it. This littlest of our crew...so close...

It has been awhile since I have written here. It has not been for a lack of desire or inspiration...just time.
I am now 36 weeks pregnant with Baby J and planning a Christmas Fundraising Bazaar for Jeremiah's baseball team. I also just started selling Tupperware. We are still home schooling everyone. Oh, and my mama has been here for two weeks...
Fall is here with all its rain and crispy air. Leaves scatter our yard begging for raking. But the house is clean. Meals have been made ahead. Babies things are all in order. Football and Baseball are done for the year.
Now we just wait.
And enjoy our time together...

I will be back with more thoughts soon...maybe before Baby J joins us...perhaps after sometime.

But, I will be back.

rainy days and foggy evenings...

Fall is setting in with more than its share of rain and fog.

Neither is very helpful to create an environment for comfy pregnant mamas that need to be sitting in the baseball bleachers.

But, baseball is wrapping up and football is nearing the end of its season, well for Joshua's mini-black team anyways...

We have all enjoyed the sports this fall, but will love the time at home in the evenings we will have through the winter. These will be interrupted twice a week, but that is like a vacation when compared with out spring, summer, and fall!

I only have 5-6 weeks left of this pregnancy. Baby is showing plenty of evidence that he prefers an October birthday to November one. Each day this finds me resting and putting my hand on my ever growing bump to encourage him to enjoy his little womb. And I offer up a prayer to keep him in there awhile longer.

School is proving to be more difficult this year...our curious two-year old and attention needy kindergartner provide us with plenty of spiritual refining each day. This finds me looking for new ways to juggle and attempt our education...Maybe even some overhauling...you know since we are only six weeks into the year and all.

God has been so good though. Today, while I took a day off of my feet to rest, Emily stepped up and ran the house...meals, baths, potty breaks, and cleaning. This helped me to see the women she is becoming and can be with encouragement. I am encouraged after several particularly trying weeks. The little ones obeyed her for the most part and I have a list of ways to work on them now too. The older boys we so glad to help and have meals on time...I think we can manage this new little one coming into the fold soon.

For tonight, I am staying in and making cookies with Bethany and Jeremiah while the others are either napping late or at the high school football game with Daddy. Joshua is being recognized for all his hard work on the football field and Emily needed a break from today to enjoy time with Daddy...

Rain and fog cannot change the heart of our home...it is full of love and warmth...no matter how uncomfortable or tired we may be. No matter how busy or in need of encouragement.

We have Him, Who makes our hearts merry.

And I have a pretty amazing family too!

who i am today...

with all the change we have been talking about and entertaining...i have been wondering just who i am today. not WHO i actually am, as in like lost identity, but who is this women i have become. shaped by Jesus, motherhood, and life.

i have discovered that i think i like her.

i have been a wife now for thirteen years. i am not the same young girl jesse married, but, i am a better, more improved version that he loves even more. i have conceived and nurtured 5 children with one more on the way. in no way am i supermom. in no way am i selfless. but, i am changed and forever a better person. one that is still being shaped daily by the trails of life that our growing family provides.

i have always loved beauty and art,but now i desire to create things. that is new. i want to decorate and design. to beautify and touch up.

i have sought to be a vessel. used by Him, however, whenever He has need or desire. i continue seeing Him use me daily. sometimes in a large way. other days in the daily tasks that i call life.

i am who i am today...because of Who i allowed to shape me. His vision. His will. like hermie and wormie, God's not finished with me yet. but gosh i am excited to see where he is taking me.

in this season, there are many hard days. our family faces many of the same challenges others face. but i have a hope and a Father i can call on. and while these days come and go, He is the same. it is this unwavering One that is my Lord that guides me and helps me.

change is inevitable and welcomed.

there is zero possibility that I blogged about being inspired and then had a flop of a day...nope...never!

and I didn't order a soy, Cinnamon-Dulce latte and accepted the whipped cream...I would never!

and I didn't let the kiddos play in the rain to make unloading car and putting away groceries easier...I always give them a productive way to help me out...

and I never leave the dishes on the counter to wait for the dishwasher while I check my email, facebook, and blog for the second time that day. Nope, no way, no how!

I sit here early this morning in the dreary fall light. I am thinking about our family. Our togetherness, the children's school work, sports, and meals. I look about the house thinking of how to encourage even more creativity and home centeredness...
I realize that much of what we have and who we are centers around the years we spent as 'nomads' traveling around the country with my dear Jesse. Bits and pieces exist in our lives and our home that are reflections of who we were and who we are becoming.
It is lovely.
I think that with the birth of sweet Baby J in the next few weeks, we are entering a new and exciting season. Six children will most surely put us into the large family category. And as the winter sets in and the animals hibernate, I think that renewal will enter our home. I feel like I have a vision of who Jesse and I are and who our children are turning into. A part of this renewal will be mental and spiritual,but some physical. I am purging again and eager to design the interior of our home into a reelection of who WE are. In the same way I want to steer my children toward the Lord and and a daily life that includes more home focus...not lacking sports mind you though...but molding a love for things simple and already here...I am excited. This journey and vision poke through my mind like the first bright rays of sunshine this morning.

Happy Labor Day to you all!

I hope you are spending your day any old way...but just the way you want.

We are having coffee and egg sandwiches for lunch, catching up on laundry, and cleaning out the car garage...we have two different garage, one attached and one not. And Jeremiah will be filling in tonight for another baseball team that doesn't have enough players. You know, just gotta have a game...even if you have to fill in!

I am really glad that is so cool...around 69 here in central Ohio.

Pulling out the boxes, that hide warm things.

In half an hour I am off again...

Football and baseball this evening. Visiting with ballpark buddies. Dirt and Lollipops.

I sit here and shake my head...at times this all seems like to much to put on our family as a whole. We seem to live at the ball park.

Then, I sit back and really look at my children. The sheer joy their sports and play time bring each of them and I know it is all worth it.

I look in my husband's face and see the pleasure he takes in seeing his children learn to dig in and work hard. Priceless...

I have often gone back and forth about sports -vs- plain hard work. We are not farmers. My husband doesn't want animals...not even the dog and cat that are a 'part' of our family. He works away from the home. We desire our children to work hard with joy and to pull into our family as a part of a team. And, for our family, sports are doing a fantastic job of this.

I am so excited to see where swimming takes Emily, Baseball and Basketball take Jeremiah, Baseball and Football take Joshua, and what Bethany, Jonathan, and Baby 'J' will choose and wehere they will go.

Our children work hard. They play hard. And, they are being a family 'hard'...pulling into each other and us. Being a team and a unit. And loving evey moment!

It is hard to believe that it has been two months since I last posted...or is it three...either way...much to long!

Life has been a crazy whirlwind of activity this summer...we finished school in early June, but didn't take a break in our activities...ever!

Emily did summer swim team, Jeremiah finished out his 'Spring' ball season in early July, Joshua finished his spring season in early June, but made All-stars and played until August.

Then football and fall baseball started up the next day.

Seriously.

The.Very.Next.Day.

Somewhere in there we enjoyed days at the pool with Grandma and I planned out our new school year.

Baby 'J', as our sweet little one in the womb is so dearly called, grew like a weed!

I actually had to have an ultrasound to rule out twins he grew so much one month! The ultrasound showed that all was well and on schedule... that the little one I was so convinced was a girl, was actually a BOY!
Bethany vowed that since Baby was a boy, she would never speak to it...and has since changed her mind and is totally in LOVE with him!

Jonathan potty trained himself...after several attempts to interest him in wearing big boy drawers and using the toilet like a big guy, which he was 100% not into...he just up and decided one afternoon that he was done with diapers...and has been diaper free for 3 weeks around the clock...Mama is convinced that this rocks!

We are back to school...today is our third day. So far all is going very well!

For those of you who are interested I will be posting about our curriculum later today and sharing our experience with My Father's World too.

This weekend brings us Memorial Day weekend...full of baseball and veterans, flags and flowers, watermelon and BBQ...

Baseball is in full swing around our home. Jeremiah has been playing 2 games a week for the past 2 months along with 2 tournaments. Joshua is half-way through his first season of Coach Pitch. Both teams have had their up and downs, but the boys are in heaven! Tuesday was our dad's birthday and both boys won their games...

Birthday+Baseball+Winning= One Happy Daddy!

Emily will be starting swimming the beginning of June. It is such a blast to watch her do something she truly loves and excels at. And pretty darn cool for her to have her 'own' sport now!

Bethany has been the family cheerleader...she is always there and pretty much always has an encouraging yell for whoever we are watching play.

Jonathan...well I'll just say this...if we can keep him off the field and away from the parking area it is a good game! Seriously though, he loves watching 'ball-ball', for awhile at least!

Excitement is in the air also...school wraps up the first week of June for us. It has been a long school year. But we are rounding third!

Next year will hold a wide array of changes...but for now...I will am looking forward to...

lazy mornings, flip flops for months, fresh veggies, iced tea and coffee, suntan lines,
reading for fun, sprinkler play, bubbles, watermelon, Popsicles, and campfires...

Summer is a comin' and boy is it nice!

our little family of five children will be expanding once again.

a new little model will be joining us just in time for thanksgiving this year.

we will indeed have much to be thankful for.

our spring has been overflowing, with the news and our busy sports schedule.

everyone is ready for school to be out, just a few more months,

and the lazy days of summer to begin...

but first, as our little one grows within...

we will savor blossoms and blooms...

and new life and the blessing of promise which spring does lend!

I am enjoying a nice, quiet Saturday. Cuddling with my hubby and and babies in the warmth of our flannel sheets, dishes unwashed, laundry stacked up the wall in the laundry room...but I am so relaxed.

It can wait until the morning...or my second wind tonight.

February has come in full swing. With all it's cold and snow. We are trucking away on house projects and school work. Staying busy reading and running.

This is the hard part of the school year. Everyone is ready for change. Everyone is ready to be outdoors being warmed by the sun. Cabin fever and boredom tend to creep in.

I am pushing ahead. Ready to bring some brightness and cheer into our days and into the house. Maybe it is time for some fresh plants to scatter about. Hopefully some fresh paint on the walls and some brightly colored artwork are ahead.

Oh, for spring to show its face...but oh, how I love to savor the day. May I lead by example in joy and cheer around this home. Bringing light to those I love.

We have five children...

Five growing, active children...

Five growing, active children that eat like ten children!

Mealtimes are something our family really looks forward to, but I struggle daily in the quest to fill these bottom less pits of children that God has to wonderfully blessed me with.

We all like our raw veggies around here. We also eat our weight in beans. And still they scrounge for food!

Today for lunch I aimed to make our grilled cheese healthier and more filling.

I came up with the following recipe...

1 can chickpeas, drained
1/4 C reduced fat sour cream...usually I use cottage cheese or ricotta, but I had none on hand.
1/4 C Mexican blend shredded cheese
garlic powder to taste...I added about 1/2 tsp

I dumped all of this in my food processor and hit the on button and let it go until it as all smooth and mixed. Then I spreaded this on whole wheat bread and grilled it with a smidgen of butter. I let is cook until the cheese was gooey and toast was browned.

This was a huge hit. I even added a pile of fresh spinach to mine...YUM!

The kids loved it and everyone is still full! That is worth so much to me.

What a great, tasty, and frugal lunch!

I have been more creative.

In the kitchen.

In my decorating.

In our home school.

I feel pretty inspired lately.

Trying to stick to my food budget, which I exceeded by $37 last shopping outing, I am using up ingredients in neat new ways. I have always wanted to learn to cook from a pantry rather than a cookbook. And I have a thing for cookbooks...especially ones with pretty pictures. We have had a variety of chili type meals, chicken and pasta dishes, and lots of various burrito combinations! It has been fun and 'mostly' tasty.I will need to shop soon, but am excited to by more staples and use my taste buds to guide me again.

I have always had ideas for decor...maybe it is the one artistic thing I got at birth from my mama...she is a lovely artistic type. My budget is slim now and I have never really had a place nor the time to decorate it when I did, so I own no great furniture pieces to speak of and no really great nick nacs nor framed art. So, I am working at upcycling what I have and redoing things I find cheap to become the stylish, but to spendy things I would like to use. It is fun and I have a plethora of ideas to use up!

Homeschooling is such a blessing for our family. This coming school year we are really going a different avenue with our style, but I am excited that it will open up the time we desire for our creativity to flow...more on those ideas later. For now, we are streamlining our studies to the basics and delving into fun reading and making notebooks to chronicle our learning...it has been fun!I can't wait to see the finished notebooks at the end of the year. I am sitting hear wondering why we didn't do this sooner!

Spring is coming...sooner for some...longer for us in the North, but the renewal is already popping up in me. I feel fresh and energized. And so ready to use it for His glory and creativity!

It is awesome to feel like I can be the steward he wants me to be and to feel like I am really on the path of the Proverbs 31 women. Making the Lord and my husband proud. Clothing my children beautifully, making my home a place of peace and renewal, teaching each little soul, and feeding their bodies well. And most importantly, pointing our children to the Father and teaching them to be lights in this dark world for Him and His Glory!

2011...another new year. Another year to grow, learn, and love.

I am full of fresh perspective. In my mothering, my loving, my walk with the Lord, in my housework. I choose to forgo resolutions this year. Ya know, the list we make and don't adhere to starting sometime in February. Instead, I found things I liked about myself already, and I am just trying to keep up with those.

As a mother, I pour myself into my children. They are my life and my ministry.But,I find myself feeling a bit bewildered from time to time. My oldest is 11, and already becoming a women. This has been draining and excited. Both somehow. For us both. Watching Parenthood the other night, the show, Sarah had an epiphany...and in turn I did too. She said,"Your song is beautiful. It's haunting and moving and it's so you. ...I'm so proud and I'm so impressed and I am so in awe of you."-mom to daughter, Parenthood
I feel that way with my children so often. While shaping this group of individuals and molding them into the people God created them to be, I am in awe. I am awestruck by them. I am so blessed. My desire this year is to keep on loving and nurturing them. And enjoying who they are.

I am going to keep loving. My mother has always compared me Pollyanna...I love unconditionally. My entire life that has opened me up and left me incredibly vulnerable. But,I will continue to love so easily and simply.

I love to read God's Word and draw into Him. This year I will continue drawing into my Lord!Growing more aware of Him and His voice.

And last of all.

I have always cleaned and worked to make my home my little paradise for my family. A respite for my love and children to live in. But, I have struggled to get everything done with my growing family. The Lord lead me to purchase a book called Large Family Logistics...it has revolutionized my housekeeping! I will continue making our house a home. And with God's grace it will be a place my husband and children will love to be in.

Rather than try and change myself, I am embracing the person God made me to be.

It's a new year, a fresh start, or a time to embrace!

Eight days until I drive with my 5 children to Kentucky with the winter weather and Christmas travelers to share the roads with.

Seven of us to bake Christmas treats for.

Six amazing people to share a wonderful day with.

Five lovely children to brighten my day and take joy in being mama to.

Four days of school left for this year...2010!

Three hours tonight to finish painting and sewing special gifts I have made for the children.

Two minutes until I head out to Starbucks to take my hubby a latte at the Father-Son Hitting Tournament this afternoon.

One day until my baby turns two and we begin a fun filled week preparing for Christmas, a wedding, and a short trip to Kentucky to all the nanas, papas, aunts, and uncles...and tons of friends!

Zero regrets...only hundreds and thousands of blessings to be greatful for.

Snowflakes keep falling from the sky...

Winter is here.

White and cold.

Crisp and bitter!

No fewer than twice a day, there are wet boots, dripping mittens, and piles of snow gear piled on my dining room floor. Beet red noses and watery eyes peak up at me from under mounds of blankets on the couch...begging to just cuddle and read or watch a movie. The afternoons, when school and chores are done, stretch out long and lazy. We find ourselves cuddling more and talking more.

This is the stuff that feeds my soul!

These are the days I feel rested.

And when I hoist myself from my cocoon...I busy myself with mopping the footprints, and drying the snow gear, and try to remember it was worth the effort.

And then I smile...and let them do it all again!

a new land...

I have been married for over twelve years now...and I am very much still in love with my husband. My love and admiration for him grow daily. As I watch him with our children, as I hold his hand, and as we walk this path together. Day after day.

Last night I had a realization.

We are entering into a strange land.

Our baby is turning two in eleven days...and I am not expecting another little one.

We have never been here before.

We hadn't been married for three months when we learned we were expecting our first child.

When she was fourteen months we were expecting our second. He was born when she was twenty-two months old.

Two weeks before his second birthday we learned that our third would join us before the end of the year.

Then when he was twenty-one months our little fireball was on her way.

And...when she was nineteen months our littlest bundle announced he was on his way.

Our entire life together has been blessed with my pregnancy glow and bouncing babies!

This is a new experience. We will see how long it lasts...I intend to enjoy the five that I have and the new things we can do while I am not pregnant...like ice skating, snowboarding, and roller skating!

But, I am sure I will also spend plenty of time looking at baby clothes, baby names, and pregnant ladies.

I have really begun to love shooting pictures of my family and of the places we go and see.
But, goodness I could use more know-how!

And IN with the NEW!

We bought our house last November. It was in great shape, but VERY dated. Like that striped wallpaper you see in the picture and and weird rounded door trim everywhere. Oh...and NO ceiling lights anywhere!

The last week and a half my dear hubby has been redoing a room for our dear old Emily. She is 7 years older than her sister and we felt like she really cold use some space of her own.

Hence the renovations...

It had no door and was once a dining room...so it had some things needing removal and changed up a bit.

Jesse has cut holes in the ceiling to remove old recessed light fixtures, patched those holes, removed and repaired an old water leak spot that had a bit of mold, pulled new wires in, painted the ceiling, installed a ceiling fan, installed new light switches, installed new baseboards, put in a door, and added crown molding. He has been very busy indeed! So many of these things took major modifications too.

This week we are going to be painting, cleaning, and moving in!

I am so excited for Emily and really enjoying the preview to how the rest of the house will turn out!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I hope you have spent today enjoying the blessings God has poured upon you...I sure have. God has mightily poured out His Spirit on us, especially lately! Not only do I constantly stand in awe of the wonderful husband and five amazing children He has loaned me...but He also is so faithful. He has renewed my energy and joy ten fold...He is so Wonderful! Thank you Lord!

I sure have needed that energy today! We started our day off with Pioneer Women's cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs, and turkey bacon. AND delicious lattes made by the best hubby ever. Thanks :)

Then Jesse and I started in on our 'Turkey' Day work...we made from scratch sweet potato casserole, stuffing, and Pumpkin Pie filling...with a lovely Marie Callender's crust. We also made a fantastic turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, and sides of garlic stuffed olives, and pickles. YUMmmmmmmm!

We are all watching the Cowboys and Saints play in Dallas....Go Cowboy's! And will finish the night out with some cuddles and the next few chapters of our latest family read aloud.

It has been so different celebrating without family again, but I think we are enjoying our new traditions and that is so good.

I thank God that while we are still unsure day to day about what we are doing and what to do next, we ARE enjoying our children and they ARE enjoying us. And that is the goal!

I am having so much fun posting interesting, random photos on here...

I read Steph's 'rant' over on her blog...and so...over the past little while I have felt that way too...I am over it now...mostly. But I harbor zero guilt for desiring a little R&R. With my hubby it would be bliss. With my mama it would be nurturing. By myself...it would be sweet escape and revival.

We'll see how that works out.

What'll we do tomorrow? Gosh, my hands are numb it is so cold in the schoolroom tonight. I still have how many loads to fold on my bed...hmmm....if I paint everything 'grant gray' can I put mustard yellow, brick red, or a lovely turquoise somewhere in the living room? I guess I'll have a cup of tea now...

Busy, busy, busy. So much to see, do, and enjoy. But wow, I have been really overwhelmed by most of it lately.

I have been trying to live more in the moment. With the Lord, with my children, and as a womam.

And while I am a pretty unstructered person...I am really having a tough time pushing through clutter and overall loudness lately.

Why in the world am I sharing this?

I need accountability!

My life...the many parts that make the whole...are so totally worth it!

I am looking forward to steeping back into my usual 'loosenes' and general JOY!

Live in the moment. Serve HIM in the moment. Live life up!

So...my wheels have been turning. What do I want to accomplish? Not spiritually speaking...that is way bigger and much more personal right now. Maybe I will share that. Maybe not. I am talking about physically. My house. hmm...My school time with the kiddos. My yard. For the holidays. What do we need to get done. Where have we been and where are we going...

I sit and look out at the fall colors...I desire to create a warm, homey house. A place that people want to stay and sit for a spell...you know, like me and mine! Not overly decorated, but that says I live here and this is my home.
A nurturing school time...getting more than just school done...actually building bonds and sharing love.
I desire my yard to both reflect our family, but to start nourishing our bodies. A large garden full of goodness...
I want to to give gifts of love and personal thought this winter. Each with a handmade touch...other than my hands just wrapping or picking it out!

Where we have been...that takes more time and reflection. Where we are going...that will take some more prayer and guidance from my Father. Maybe a nice photo post to see where we have been...that sounds about right.

I am continuing to walk down a less traveled path...wearing my baby who is nearly two, still homeschooling my motley crew despite living in a single location finally, extended breastfeeding, and serving Jesus WITH said motley crew.

I began this journey 12 years ago with my prince charming...and so much of my ideas became reality with the birth of our charming Emily. While her birth didn't go as planned, and I wasn't able to breastfeed her due to those complications, I did 'wear' my daughter. We started our attachment with two carriers. Both of these were uncomfortable, but I loved having her near. We used the soup out of our Snuggli and abused our backpack. When I knew a new little one was coming, I picked up a used ring sling. Jeremiah never made a peep in that plaid carrier...until it was replaced when mice chewed on it in our closet. I missed my carrier and so did he. While pregnant for our next child, I was given a Baby Bjorn that my sister-in-law so awesomely found at a garage sale. And though my back ached for months, I carried Joshua too. It was with the birth of my little firecracker, Bethany, that the Ergo Baby Carrier and Peanut Shell Sling found homes in our family. Bethany was attached to me continuously. She learned in my arms and nursed nearly at will. Bliss and comfort for us both. These made their way down to Jonathan. He loves to be carried when he is sleepy. Sadly our favorite, the Ergo, was lost on our vacation a few weeks ago...and while he is getting to big to be carried, he and I both long for the Ergo and our cuddle time. Baby wearing has blessed my brood in ways plastic mothering never could. Despite the looks, I will continue to nurture my children in this age old method...even though it is a path less traveled.

We now live in one place. Waking each morning in the same bed. Eating at the same table. Growing and loving in the same home. And we continue to school at home, together. Our one room school house has its ups and downs, but always finds us returning, eager to learn more. I am asked daily why I still homeshool when I have a 'great' school at my disposal. Truth be told, it is tempting to send the older ones away all day, to have time with just my little ones. But, I know that my children ALL need me. I know that it is what is best, for us. My older children are learning to help me more to give me that time with my little ones. And on this path that is questioned and sometimes discouraged, I know that I am doing good. And I know that it is well with my soul.

Recently my little guy took his last cuddle at my breast. It always makes me cry and also joyful to see my babies grow up. Jonathan is 21 months and my youngest weaner. It was time. Funny though, what seems early to me, many are amazed at. They cannot believe that I would continue nursing a child so old...that I would continue to welcome them to receive comfort and nourishment passed their first year. I am so thankful that I took a stand against the norm and feed my children as long as was good for us both.

Each day, my children and I are together. We talk together and sup together. And each day, each moment I aim to teach, guide, nurture. My goal is that my children grow to serve, love, and share Jesus. I want my children to revolutionize the world for Him. It is on this path that I teach them. In my womb, at my breast, in my arms, next to me, and working with me.

Wearing my children, breastfeeding my children, and homeschooling my children are all natural extensions of my mothering. I have taken responsibility for who I am raising my children to be. This won't end with baby wearing. It won't stop at weaning. And homeschooling is just our chosen method of education. But all are the hands that are shaping my family. Shaping them into arrows to be used by the hand of the loving lord Jesus.

Why winter is left wanting...

Fall...the colors, the scents, the textures, and the sounds. The overall crispness of the air and plants...It is so romantic and cozy...in a way that cold old winter wishes it could be!

I love the freshness and rebirth that spring holds. The fresh newness of it all.The smell of the overturned earth and spring flowers. The May showers...

In the summer I soak up the sun's warming rays and splash in the cool waters of lakes, streams, and seas.

But it is the bold array of colors, the crisp air that stirs, and the crunch of the leaves and fruit of the fall that beckons unto my soul.

Oranges, red, gold, rust, scarlet, and mustard.

Crackles, crunching, and whooshing.

Smoke, spice, and earthiness.

Thick stew, warm bread, and cinnamon confections.

The warm embrace of my favorite sweater, the lush fell of my white scarf, the snug pull of my knit socks on my toes.

In eagerness I pull on my layers. Ready am I to explore the fall world. To wander through leaves and pick apples.

And though the temperature drops, I can still be warmed by the sun's embrace. Two worlds collide...summer and winter...to chill my skin, but warm my face.

Fall gives me both bright, crisp, cold mornings and warm, sunshiny afternoons where the sun is like a medicine...My favorite liquid sunshine shots. These prepare me for the long winter ahead. A winter that leaves me craving a leisurely afternoon in the apple orchard or walking through the leaves. Giving me cold and a longing for spring.

But fall. Oh, fall. How I love thee...

Summer has come to end, but with a bang in our home.

We made our trip to the deep south. The home of my youth. The stomping grounds of my teen years. And the location of my match made in heaven wedding.

We took the children to the stretch of beach my parents lived on until day of my birth and splashed in every summer, as much as I could. We toured downtown and the Battery, site of the historic first shot of the Civil War. Okay...that was actually at Fort Sumter, but right there in the harbor. We bought t-shirts like tourist...

And that is when I realized that this is exactly what my children are there. Tourist. So strange and bizarre to me. Even their father has lived there before.They have never experienced 8 months of summer or the wet, rainy winter. Nor have they inhaled the thick musk of jasmine, honeysuckle, wisteria, and azaleas mixing in the summer evening air.

The last day we were there we went to Old Fort Dorchester, the site of my 1998 wedding. It was a Puritan church steeple in the late 1600's. My sister took pictures of us there with our brood of 5...and we kissed in the same spot that we had shared our first kiss as husband and wife...12 years before.

While in South Carolina, we learned that my father was having health complications, so we left early and heading to our married home of Kentucky. It was a nerve racking drive and weekend, but all is well now and he is home.

Back here in Ohio, our new home. The place my children with call their stomping grounds,the boys have cranked back up with baseball. The girls are trying out gymnastics. School is back in session in our little downstairs schoolroom. Groceries are being bought. Rooms being purged and cleaned. Garage sales planned.

It is the beginning of a new season, walking further down the path we started twelve years ago. It is always new. It is always fresh. It never lacks surprises.

And into to this new season we go...ready or not!

Lazy. Sunny. Vacation ...

It has been so quiet here...

I have been on break. From blogging. From school. From planning.

I will be back to my 'real' life soon.

At that time...I will have had a summer break with my children. I will have researched and planned a years worth of school. New schedule and re-vamped the chore packs. Again on the schedule and chore pack...shh...Simplified my house hopefully :) And be tanned and relaxed from vacation time spent in South Carolina. We are at my mom and dad's house in Charleston. We have gone to the beach and had special time shopping and hunting.

Tomorrow we are off to downtown and the historic district. This is one of my favorite places. As a child my parents would take me down there and we would take pictures, drawing pads to sketch the feast laid before us, and play hide and seek with the secrets Charleston has to share. They taught me to 'see' the city. To feel and savor the flavor, the textures, the soul of the city.

I was spoiled in architecture and history.

I am so excited to pass this love onto my children. To spend the day taking pictures, strolling along allies, stepping through gates and time.

It has been awhile since I have participated in this fun little bloggity game...but we haven't been without material to use!

I most certainly did not wash Jonathan hair with a baby wipe before the baseball cook out this weekend, I did not give him chocolate milk and kefir in his bottle together to make him happy the other night either.

I did not go to Kroger with to bumpkins, rather than take the time to clean them up from their summer time fun. I always go in public with 'picture perfect" looking children!

I have not, nor would I ever procrastinate on the house work, in Lu of going to a pool party. I am such an on top of it kind of girl you know.

It has been so long...

It is August now...these lovely, lazy, long summer days are coming to a close. Where has the time gone. Have I savored the flavor of my family enough lately? Or have I missed some of the little things in my drive to finally catch up on my 'duties'...Summer is not over...and if something has been 'missed' consciously...it was not missed by my subconscious. This week there is much to do, but I will continue savor the flavor of my family. I will continue playing and try to stress less. I will live in the moment and show my children how to do the same. I will remind them how to just enjoy. I will work with them, rather than around them. I will try to document, but never stifle them.

And if I get around to it...look for some new collages of our summer...July wants to join its friends!

The long, busy, fun-filled weekend has ended.

I'll go...

I did not wash the little ones down with wipes rather than pop them in the bathtub, twice, this past weekend. I always, without fail, scrub my little guys down and lotion them up well.

I never would make a meal for my family out of concession stand hot dogs and nacho Doritos. I always have 'Real' food on hand for my family. Fruit chopped, green somethings in the lunch box, and clean water bottled and ready. That other lady must be someone else's wife and mother.

I most certainly did not manage to coupon myself into two free drinks with my Starbucks order yesterday. I always obey coupon rules and use only one per transaction. I am not one of 'those' ladies...

May started out with lots and lots of baseball. New freinds made. Park days and picnics with the neighbors. Hardwood floors found under all the stairs and upstairs carpeting! New shoes and garage sale finds. Smiles and sunshine! Nana vistied and we stayed super busy! 5 ball games in 4 days, the Columbus Zoo, The Works science museum and glass blowing studio, and the Olentangy Indian Caverns.

In April we celebrated our first birthday of the year...Jeremiah turned 9 on the 18th! We had quite the spread and he had his new friend "P" over. The days grew beautiful and sunny. Baseball started in ernest. We visited a few parks, enjoyed our flowers, and played hard!

In march we had a bit more snow, some loverly spring days, and another Kentucky trip. Bethany learned to ride her bike on two wheels..that makes us 4 for 4, learning to two wheel it before their fourth birthdays! My flowers started popping up. We attended the wedding of one of our closet and dearest friends.We free walked on our maple trees. And baseball practices started up!

In February we played outside in the snow during the sunny afternoons and the bone-chilling evenings. Sometimes until nearly 11:00pm! We played with our adorable baby, sword fought, did more school, and went to Kentucky for a visit. We fell in love with Paw Paw and Maw Maw's Wii. We are chili at Big Papa and Nana's house. February was fun!

In January we had company 3 times so I will grace you with two collages of those great memories that were made in our new home. Having friends and family come for a visit eased the feeling of loss we experienced in selling our dream house in Kentucky. It still isn't easy, but with God's grace we are settling in and actually liking Ohio. In January we were cold, snowed in, and doing mega school to catch up from the moves we made in the fall of 2009.

I am working on a 'schedule' and a chore 'routine' for our family.

Ya know, just in time for summer :)

For those of you that know me well...you probably always thought I'd be the last mother to implement a 'schedule'!

Well...looking at the above photo you can see a typical day around our home...well the spirit of it anyways..minus that little blond in the background. Even if we had six children now, which we don't, said sixth child would have no hope of being a toe head!

So, wish me luck, or prayers, or just be ready to come save the kids!

I mean for crying out loud....Where is the instruction manual for these things?!

This morning a woke up snuggled between my two little ones. The 'big' kids were up and waiting for breakfast. Birds chirped from the lilac bush beneath my window.

I smiled to myself.

Glad to have my children home with me.

Then, when I walked downstairs, the 'big' kids grumbled that I was late and asked what was for breakfast. My mood sunk...

For a few minutes I wanted to pout and grumble to myself.

Where would that leave me?

Treading 'water' all day at best. 'Drowning' in unhappiness more likely. That's worst.

Nothing wastes a day like going down that path. Nothing ruins the time we could have had like walking around bitter and sullen.

I sent a quick prayer to my Father.

He gave me grace.

And we started anew.

God gave us the tools for a lovely morning.

His grace is making our day happy.

God is good. His grace is new in the morning. He is sufficient. He is love.

And now.

All is well.

He makes me able to face each and everyday. Even days that start out 'off'. He supplies joy. He gives a second chance.

He shows me the wonders of motherhood. He teaches me to grab the moment.

And while I am a slow learner.

He makes on heck of a great tutor!

I am a mother. It does define me. I am not lost behind it. I embrace it.

And by God's grace and loving hand...

I will make the most of each and everyday.

The weather has been beautiful and honestly I have been outside more than inside. Between baseball tournaments and garden starting I have sadly, but gladly avoided the clutter that I call home.

This weekend, we have 3 baseball practices, a scrimmage, and a birthday cook-out to enjoy. I will also be methodically cleaning my home.

This is different than spring cleaning, which by the way is still not finished. I plan to get back to that...This is actually just getting to the things that need to be done for daily use and living.

And, I haven't been getting to it.

Can we hire another me?

Is there a cleaning mom clone service I haven't heard about yet?

I suppose she'll happily get up tomorrow morning and work, Work, WORK.

Maybe she'll wear pearls and heels.

More likely, she'll need a shower and a cup of joe to get her going.

Oh, and she'll surely have her tunes turned way up.

Ya know, rock really gets the cleaning vibe going...at least for her.

And, if she doesn't get swallowed alive by the clutter that is her home; she'll post on her success.

Ya know, to rub it in...

or just to gloat.

The quiet hour...

It is the quiet hour in our house. The hour before the children awake. I sit here looking at the growing green of nature as I sip my latte and think about what today might bring. What new discovery Bethany will find, what new 'trick' Jonathan might learn, what adventure my three oldest might share. It is in moments like this that I realize what a wonderful gift I have in being their mother. This life I lead truly is a treasure, one that nothing else can compare with.

OK, OK...so you are thinking...gee, are not me post all this girl does..

um...

no.

But............

I am doing another not me post before gracing you with some meat. So there.

I most defiantly did not spend the whole day yesterday outside in the sunshine and warm air, not thinking about groceries and meal time. In effect causing my hubby to go grab us some pizza. Nope! I am always one step ahead of the game and have our meals planned out, cook said meals, and never have a house lacking in groceries.

I also never avoid planning out a weeks worth of school for our kiddos so that I can hand out with hubby. Nor do I pawn extra chores on the kiddos because I am sore and just don't wanna bend over again.

I never feed our kiddos Peeps and popcorn for lunch...it is always healthy fare around these parts. And we also NEVER give Peeps to unaccompanied one-year olds. OK, we really don't do that, but it sounds good right?!

I always do my dishes quickly and you'll never find every single dish in my kitchen stacked up to the cupboards...even when there are 4 flu-stricken kiddos in my house. Nope, never-ever! I definitely changed as soon as the baby vomited on me, every single time, and never just wiped my pants off until I finished what I was doing. No way, no how! And, now that every one is better I am most definitely caught up on everything and my house looks perfect as always...because you know...I am ALWAYS on top of everything and NEVER waste time writing or reading blog posts!

March has been such a busy month...baseball kicking into gear, spring cleaning...still, playing outside in the warm weather, going to Kentucky for a beautiful wedding, and now...three sick kiddos.

Spring has me craving a cleaner home...more simple and less cluttered. I am wanting a more organized routine...which has actually been in the works. I am also striving to get back to the healthy, from scratch, home cooked meals we ate when our family was smaller.

Our family is learning to adjust to life in one home, in one city. We are learning to budget and prioritize. We are trucking away at our second half of the school year and sometimes enjoying it! Actually we usually enjoy our history, geography, and science. Oh, and we always enjoy reading...We are learning to like the necessary evils of math, handwriting, and grammar. :)

Working with the goals we have set, our spring will hopefully become more restful and leave us with quiet moments to enjoy God's handiwork. With time to reflect and take joy in each other.

So, our Spring has come in like a lion. I hope it can go out a bit more like a lamb.

There are no fountains of green beverages flowing from taps, no parades, or raucous music blaring forth...but we are wearing green and learning about the story behind the hoopla! So, there is plenty of pinching and giggles around here today!!!

St. Patrick's Day is so much more than green, gold, and Leprechauns...

St.Patrick was a Romanized Celt and a missionary that took the word of God to the pagans of Ireland. There are actually letters written by Patrick himself that talk of his work there. The clover was used as a symbol of the Trinity. And like most historical accounts, there are legends and tall tales about Patrick also. One of my favorites is that the early Irish listened to him because he drove all the serpents from Ireland into the ocean...and that the biggest, craftiest of them we now know as the Loch Ness Monster of Inverness Loch in Scotland.

Have a good, clean, green day! And maybe rather than grabbing a bit of the luck of the Irish, you can share the Word with someone! Although I do plan to play my Irish card in getting an extra kiss from my hubby today!

Spring is a' coming!

The days are getting brighter...longer...warmer. Our fun playing in the snow and slush is over for now. It feels like waking up and seeing the sun shine in.

We had haircuts...packing up winter boots and overalls...and Mama has been on a cleaning spree. Funny thing is, with five little ones running around...you really can't tell. But...the inside of the cabinets are clean, the oven is cleaned, the microwave and toaster are ready to be inspected, the fridge is back to looking new, and we finally know what every body has for their summer digs!

This weekend will be full of elbow grease, budget mapping, and furniture searching.

After all, spring is in the air!

Big families ARE easier :) There are always shoes, toys, books, a listening ear, a game to play, food to cook or cooked for to share! The home of a big family is always active and full of fun!

Seriously though,It IS easier having a big family. Having a playmate at home is great. Always having someone to snuggle is fabulous. And don't forget just how jaw-dropping it is to walk around Target...oh, and the barista at Starbucks wondering how I could stand having a quote unquote...alien in there taking over for nine months...where do these people come from and WHY do they ask me things like that?! But, I digress...Aside from the shocked passersby...yesterday was pretty easy.

Like all things, a large family is not a cake walk. But, we have a great time together! That is unless my first grader has a meltdown because he doesn't remember how to add or subtract. That would be a bugger no matter how many kiddos are upstairs being loud! There is that easier again thing...big kiddos to entertain the little ones while I get some one on one with my middle child.

Teaching my own children is wildly rewarding...hearing the pleasure in their voices as they discover a new treasure in knowledge, listening to them read to themselves, knowing that I taught them.

I love teaching my own children, loving them and guiding them through their school days. Each day is both glorious and challenging. It is so exciting to share in their joys, sobering to be a part of their struggles, and frustrating to help us both when they just want to be lazy or quit.

Determination, hard work, and diligence are our creed. We aim to learn, take joy in God's handiwork, and make The Maker proud. We don't always achieve these goals, but by golly, we try!

Homeschooling issues my children a great opportunity. We are enabled to learn together, to grow together, and to explore interests to nearly no end...It also gives us trials unknown to regular schools. Staying on task is not always easy, but doable. Figuring out a learning problem is also not always easy, but with research and patience, that too is doable. I find the hardest thing in our day is pushing past the times when a child has no desire to do his or her work...talk about a patience building experience for mom!

Homeschooling also provides many other character building opportunities for me! Like staying joyful while cleaning up the little ones messes that were made during school time! And believe me, they can make some messes! I am working on this and trying to keep them with us during our school time.

Are you considering homeschooling. Do you home school? While a totally personal issue for each family, I think that homeschooling should be a the least considered by most families. The rewards match the effort!

snow, Snow, and more SNOW!

We are having way more than the normal amount of snow here in central Ohio...the natives...which I am not, say that they haven't had snow like this since the 70's. Oh, how blessed we are to have moved here this winter of all winters! No, really! I am super enjoying the snow. It is so pretty! And, now that we are not driving on the icy winter roads for hours and hours trying to get home...I am loving it! We have a full fridge, full cabinets, and a bunch of house projects to get to. So, in between school and life...maybe I will get something done and LOTS of fun memories in the snow!
We had a great weekend in Kentucky...we saw loads of great friends, ate way to much everywhere we went, and caught up on some of the goings on around our old haunting ground. My wonderful in-laws put up our rowdy crew and I think they enjoyed it as much as we did! You see, we used to live in one of the rooms of their house, back when we only had two children. My brother-in-law's family with his wife and two boys lived there too. And my sweet in-laws and their youngest son. So that made for 11 in the great big three bedroom, 1000 square foot abode...it was good times! This past weekend brought back so many memories! Thank you guys and we can't wait to come back in March! Oh, there was snow there too!

Here, in Ohio, we are having freezing rain, foggy weather, and maybe more snow...and I am really enjoying it. I honestly have never thought I'd like this winter weather so much...even after letting my hubby know that we could move to the Northwest one day.I am getting a lot done around the house...there is still so much to do, but it'll have to wait. This weekend we are going to Kentucky! We are all very excited! Plans are to stay at Jesse's parents home, to visit my folks, and to stop in on our Valley friends...I think we'll go everywhere, but I am not sure I am ready to see our old house. As happy as I am for our dear friends that bought it, I have been so emotional lately that I think it just might be to soon. We'll see. I am hoping that our friends old coffee shop has reopened just in case I need a latte and am really hoping that my dad makes me some pinto beans. Oh, and cornbread...now...to help a teething 13 month old return to his chipper self...

Monday...here it is again...is it just me or are the weekends getting even shorter? It seems like so short a time and then BOOM! I am back at school and Jesse gone to work all day...I like weekends!But with the coming of Monday...we also get to do Not Me Monday...so, it's good. Now, off I go!

I didn't wear my 10-years old coat to the mail box so that I wouldn't have to go across the living room to get mine, nope. I didn't consume pre-made store bought pepperoni pizza, cheesy nachos, AND Velveeta-Rotel chip dip yesterday to celebrate both the Super Bowl and going on a diet. I can't imagine me ever doing that! I never hijack the computer on Monday morning from my girl before she can get on it for math, just so that I can do a Not Me Monday post :) What mother would ever do that?

Library-style

Every other week I pack up my crew and make the drive over to library to get some new reading material...We all love the library so much! Aren't books great?!

At the mere mention of 'library' my children go into a frenzy...like sharks when feeding! It is really something to behold.

So, Tuesday I got an email from the library letting me know that our glorious books were all pulled and waiting for us. I love entering my wish list of titles on the computer each week and the library having them waiting at the check-out desk for me. It makes me feel special...and...well...sometimes I need that :) I know that they are there because I asked for them, but it feels like the librarians know just what I like and have them there for me to choose.

So, when we get there, the kiddos all know the drill, they all troop downstairs to the children's section. The library here encourages play...there are puppets, puzzles, stuffed animals, and a stage in the picture book area. They also 4 computers loaded with only educational software and heavy duty head phones! And the best part...they are allowed to make noise. With my crew that is such a great thing...Because, let's face it, even when they use their inside voices...5 whispers are equal to...at least 1 very loud child. And, even when they are great...the number alone draws looks...and makes me feel like a fish in a glass fish bowl. And yet, I still take them out...hmmm....They must be great kids!

Granville Library...you are something. You love my children and make them feel happy about books. They love your smell, your feel, and your stairs. You aid me in my adventure as a mother and teacher.You are great! You've got class. You've got Library Style. Thank you!

Have you ever let the children run and play so you could stay snuggled in bed with your hubby on a weekend morning? Have you ever made you pj's into an outfit so that you wouldn't have to get undressed in the cold of the morning? Ever put a hat on your nappy head to carry you until you shower? Have you ever chewed gum to hid the fact that after drinking your cup of coffee you forgot to brush, before running to the post office. Ever let you kiddos wear an outfit to bed and then again on the next day? I, of course, have never done any of these. :)

Yesterday we hung pictures. All day. It was lovely...for most of us.

Oh, and we measured for the lift Jesse is going to give my laundry room floor. Those pedestals that they sell for under front loaders are way to expensive. So, Jesse is going to build up the floor under them for me. I heart Jesse.

Next up...paint and put flooring in the laundry room. For those of you that remember our Kentucky house...we have more of that great $o.50 gray tile looking laminate from the mud room...it's going in the laundry room here. Ah...getting to feel a lot more like home now.

Have you ever watched that show? I love it...the cast is annoying, the people are annoying, their messes are gross...but gosh, I love the motivation it gives me to not get like that!

I am a pack rat. There, it is out in the open. And you know what? I hate being a pack rat. I have been working it out of myself for the past 11 years. My hubby is not a pack rat. So...learning how to get more like him and making myself happier in the process! :)

Today's agenda...

Clean out the girls room and closets.

Oh, and make those routine charts I told ya about...started the routine but, a chart sure helps us all out.

So, with school all finished for the day and lunch going on the table...I am off to clean like a house afire!

We just had a great visit with my in-laws and of course I didn't let my mother-in-law catch up on ALL my laundry. Nope. Never. We watched a ton of football and I never once retreated to have some quiet. Nope, football is my favorite thing to sit and watch. We did have a great time laughing, playing, and taking as many pictures as possible! And that was most assuredly not me snapping away like the paparazzi at the park. Nope. Not Me!

Haiti...and Tree of Hope

This morning Haiti was hit again...some news stations shows claimed that this earth queake was an after shock. Others, another quake, smaller than the first. Either way, Haiti needs our prayers and help. My daughter, Emily, felt lead to start a 'foundation' to collect funds for Haiti. She called it Tree of Hope. I will post her banner tomorrow. Her goal is to make enough donations to make a difference in Haiti. She hopes to be able to help rebuild the homes of Christians and orphanages. What childlike faith indeed! If you feel lead please send funds to the ministry Hearts of Hope that I mentioned in my previous post on Haiti. Then, please send us an email sharing that you donated. She would love if you shared the amount so that she can keep track and write about it on her blog. I just listened to the most beautiful thing I have heard in a long time...Maddie Curtis singing Halalujah on American Idol. I have not been a huge fan of Americah Idol in the past, but I think I'll be watching from here on this season. This girl loves Jesus and CAN SING! She received yes's from all four members of the judging panel...it will be exciting to see how far she makes it and if she keeps using 'Christian' songs for her genre. A dear couple we are friends with have run an orphanage in Haiti and are currently trying to get another up and started with the help of a ministry called Hearts of Hope. This couple are the parents of this cutie who spent some time with our family and friends in Kentucky a few years ago. Please pray for them and the rest of God's people in Haiti. Pray that he will give them strength and open the doors for them to reach even more of the lost.

Last night after dinner my darling oldest asked to have a family night out. In the yard. Playing in the snow :)

We happily obliged and got everyone bundled.

We skipped the dishes, played, then had big mugs of hot cocoa.

It was loverly!

This morning my pldest two started their school day bright and early...and were done bright and early.

This made me smile.

I like smiling!

Now I just have one medium sized boy to help get happy and the world will be a better place...sing it with me!

Learning a routine...

I am not a scheduled person.

I need to become a more routine following person.

This week I bought alarm clocks for our four oldest children. Only two clocks, one in each bedroom. This morning, 2 minutes after my alarm went off, the kids were up. Yup! They did it and boy am I dragging!

Starting a new routine isn't new to our family, or to me. After all, each time we are blessed with another baby we start a new, new for our clan. Each new school year we tweak our old school routine. Yada, yada.

Alas, I am feeling the need to get everyone more solid in their routines now. To accomplish not more, just what needs doing, we need a routine/ schedule to keep us on track. (More can follow later, because you know I shoot for sky high goals around here. But I would be pleased as can be with just what needs doing.) Now, I am not talking about those pretty schedules with color-coded blocks off time. We may get to that, but I am not there now that is for sure. What I am aiming for is a flow to our day with built in times for the all of us that are at home all day and times for naps for the two youngest that won't change. Oh, and bedtimes too!

So, I will be creating a chart for the kitchen wall and one for the school room with everyones daily routine. Then, I will also make child specific charts to go in each room.

While I am at it, I am working on getting the two youngest to learn to sleep through the night. In their own beds. No easy feat! I will also be sewing curtains for both kids rooms, organizing both kids rooms, and trying to finally get to the pile of boxes we still have in the garage.

Our new place looks a lot different covered in snow...which we are getting even more of! This is a lot for a Carolina Girl me!

We have gotten back into the school grind...so life is busy as usual. And while the house looks fine decorated as it is...it isn't how I want it. I have great plans for my interior! So, I am in the weed out and purge phase of my renovation... my husband is probably thinking."Oh no, not again Ashley!" But, I have got to rid our home of the stuff that is piled in the living room corners, the bedroom corners, and the garages...yes, there are more than one. Three actually! I am not aspiring to be the next house beautiful blog, but would love to live in a UN-cluttered, beautiful home.

So, I will keep you posted on my progress...today is the girls great purge day...closets, dressers, shelves...etc! You know girls! And then online price hunting for two dressers, two bed frames, and a night stand. All white and distressed. I can't wait!

I have a notebook full of our plans and ideas. Room by room. Project by project. All as time and money allow. And I am excited to do just what I want, on as little as possible. This is going to be fun!

I didn't use food from the neighbor to feed my crew today. Nope not me. Not with the New Years ham, the homemade pasta, nor the cherry pie and snickdoodles. Nope not me!

Nor did I feed company the amazing Meatballs, pasta, and salami-n-chesse loaf my wonderful Italian neighbor sent me home with because she kept me for an hour. Never me!

I didn't put the one year old in 'his' sister's leggings to keep from going back upstairs, again. Nope, not me!

I didn't demand that my dear friend exclude me from our frolick in the snow pictures due to the unflattering look of my hubby's coveralls on my frame. No, I would never try to save face!

There, I would never vent online, on a blog. Nope. Nada. Never.

Oh wow! Oh my! Can it really be 2010?!

Here I sit on this freezing Sunday afternoon...grocery shopping, done. School planning, done. House clean. Visitors gone. And it is mostly quiet...

Looking out at the frozen, snow covered field I think about the new year and what it means. What want from it and what I hope to accomplish...

A list of resolutions of sorts...

A compilations of dreams too...

All of these form in my head.

I resolve to nurture more; my husband, children, and self.

I resolve to actually work on losing these baby pounds that I have so lovingly and thoughtfully put on. For the baby...you know...self-sacrifice and all...

I dream of growing a vegetable garden for the first time ever :) Maybe that should be a resolution?

I resolve to make planned, budgeted improvements on our new home. Improvements that will bring tranquility and foster imagination in our family.

And, I resolve to grow in maturity in Jesus...and to allow that to kindle flames in every part of my life.

food for thought and other ramblings...

We had a great holiday together, our family and our family joined us this past week and weekend here at our new place in Columbus... My folks came up from South Carolina and my grandfolks came up from Kentucky. We had around 5 inches of powdery snow...so lots of white, but no snowbuddies to be seen. Also, no snowball fight. :( We laughhed, played, and made some memories. Jonathan made everyone's heart flutter. He is just that cute! Bethany made all of us coffee and 'food' in her new kitchen. The big kids fit together all manner of playmobile creations while keeping warm. I cooked, brewed coffee, washed dishes...lather, rinse, repeat! And then...some more again! I hope that you had a great weekend spent with family and friends...Speaking of friends...we could use some up here in Ohio...anybody got any?

I just love weather that makes you need to get warm! Seriously, when the mercury drops and I need a scarf and some fuzzy sock...I am loving it...

We had a nice little snow last night...not our first in our new home town, but the first worth mentioning.

Bright and early my southern kiddos were up and at em'...Ready to make snowballs and get slushy to their hearts content.

I just hope that we get some for Christmas...a lot would be nice...I really want a snowball fight with my husband, dad, and siblings!

I have been missing my baby sister lately...she is way down south in Charleston, SC...my hometown. And I am way up north in Columbus, Ohio. I eagerly await for the days when we can have impromptu sister get together...when I can whisk her little one away from her and spoil it with love and kisses...the day that we can talk, cry, and hug through life on an even more level field of emotion and memories.
